Sol Design Lab has designed and prototyped multiple solar-powered charging stations for electric vehicles and mobile electronics for use at festivals, business districts, campuses, and city transportation networks. These eye-catching and educational billboards announce the arrival of electric vehicles and renewable energy for future green cities.

As society transitions from gasoline cars to electric vehicles, solar charging stations will be crucial for providing the modern urban commuter with independent mobility.

Imagine turning the corner and instead of your local gas station and convenience store, people are charging their electric bicycles and cell phones at a solar-powered charging station, while lounging in the shade of the solar roof on furniture made from recycled street signs and oil barrels.

The SolarPump combines the adaptive reuse of an American car culture symbol (a 1950's Citgo gas pump), with an interactive system harnessing solar energy to charge up to four electric bicycles and nearly unlimited laptops and cell phones, while LED lighting illuminates public seating crafted from recycled street signs.
